We have a need for a junior to mid-level Project Scheduler to join our Project Controls Group, supporting a federal client in the greater Washington DC area. The candidate will be a part of a talented team charged with monitoring and analyzing a federal program. Will use their knowledge and experience to obtain, integrate and report out on client data. Will use MS Project 2010/2013 to build and maintain project schedules, provide analysis, and support on assigned program workload.

The Opportunity

Assist with the process of building the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), identify detailed tasks, establishing predecessor/successor dependencies, and estimating task durations with the project team

  • Updates the project schedule weekly by gathering task updates from the task owners
  • Works closely with project and support teams to monitor project progress
  • Generates schedule reports for project tracking purposes, includes: critical path, forecasting and project dependencies reports
  • Perform schedule baseline change control, collection and tracking performance, critical path analysis and variance analysis
  • Perform schedule risk analysis should slippage occur, provide results, and facilitate recommended mitigation activities
  • Attend, provide support and participate in project/program/release planning, schedule, and status meetings

Key Responsibilities

US Citizen, able to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance

  • 3+ years’ experience with MS Project 2010/2013 required
  • 3+ years’ consulting experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree in: Business, Computer Sciences, or similar/related fields required


  • PMI-SP or PSP
  • PMP
  • Experience with supporting IT projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to create clear, concise, and creative presentation materials (using MS PowerPoint) for Senior Management
  • Experience and working knowledge of the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Understanding of industry best practices and methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Spiral etc.)
  • Strong analytical, verbal & writing skills, to include solid experience in writing functional and technical specifications
