Responsibilities

Thelan is currently seeking a Project Manager to join it’s Houston-based team on an Information Technology project with a commercial client in the Energy (Oil and Gas) sector.

 

The Project Manager will manage all phases of systems development, including development planning, requirements analysis, input to database design, coding, testing, implementation and documentation of applications.  The PM will oversee a wide-ranging group of professionals, and will effectively communicate with diverse groups within the organization and across all organizational levels through all phases of the projects.

 

On this particular project, the Project Manager will develop the project charter, define the scope, and assess risks at the outset.  The PM will also own the Vendor Selection effort, leading a team to build and complete a vendor selection scorecard and manage incoming proposals.  The PM will develop and manage work plans of vendor resources within the larger project plan.

Qualifications

  • BA or BS in computer science, or IT-related field and 5 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Proven leadership experience and project management skills, with demonstrated ability to plan direct, allocate and manage staff to execute projects successfully
  • Thorough understanding of Project Management concepts and IT Project Management processes and best practices
  • Understands SDLC processes
  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing.  Works comfortably in remote and/or in-person teams.
  • Ability to translate business process language into requirements and system design
